Improving Your Catch With the Airmar Transducer
Although it might sound like a complex and intricate piece of equipment, the Airmar transducer is something all avid anglers should have at their disposal. Transducers are electrical apparatuses described as antennas for marine sonar systems. These devices turn electrical power into a high-frequency sound that a transmitter emits, sending a sound wave through bodies of water. Once these sound waves reach an object, they bounce off the object and return a signal to your sonar system, indicating a position. If you are still unsure about whether transducers are for you, let us guide you through the process.
What is the Point of a Through Hull Transducer?
Because transducers rely on sound waves or acoustic energy to create a visual representation of the water below you on your sonar system, any interference with these sound waves could implicate the quality of your scans. When placing transducers on or through the exterior of your vessel, it allows you to:
- Avoid interference that your vessel causes. Because most modern marine vessels consist of fibreglass or aluminium, which are great at absorbing acoustic energy. It can significantly affect how much interference your sonar system experiences when your transducer is in the interior.
- Get a clearer image. When placing transducers on the exterior of vessels, very few obstructions could affect the quality of your scans. By getting a better view of your fishing spots, you can avoid wasting time with dead or quiet areas.
- Decrease the amount of time scanning takes. Transducers are more efficient at sending and receiving sound waves when there are fewer physical structures between them and the water. When there aren’t obstructions in the way, the periods between sending and receiving signals are shorter.
Benefits of the Airmar P66
One of the most popular sensors, the P66 is perfect for both fresh- and saltwater applications. We often receive questions regarding the transducers we supply, where our customers are unsure whether they should invest in these technologies. We can gladly state that these transducers are exceptional because:
- They read depth, speed, and temperature simultaneously. Very few devices can produce such accurate depth readings, but these take it a step further with precise speed and temperature readings.
- They can deal with transom angles between 2° and 22°. These transducers are here to accommodate your vessel from small to midsize boats.
- You can easily remove and replace your transducers. Because of its accessible bracket, you will not even require tools to remove them. Accessibility is essential, especially when you want to clean or service your transducers.
